“Siddha system is the most ancient system of medicine. In other words, it can be described as a way of life which brought unity, peace and harmony in earth. There was no discriminationon the basis of caste, colour, religion or race. People worshipped one God as supreme power. This was nothing but the concept of Saiva Siddhantham prevailing over that period.
This system or way of life was followed in the earliest Dravidian civilization. The ancient Tamil language was the basis of communication and the medium of writings during that period. Hence, Tamil is said to be the most primordial language from which the other south India languages originated.
Muppu:
Unique Preparation/Drug Apart from the previously mentioned 32 internal medicines, there is a unique entity in Siddha called ‘Muppu’, which literally means a combination of three salts. It is also known as ‘The Crown of Siddhars’. The basic material used is alkaline Earth (Pūnīru) which is collected in specific regions during midnight on a full moon day in April (Chithirai).
Types of Muppu:
i. Transmuting simple metals into higher metal is called VādhaMuppu
ii. Potentiating the action of drugs and enabling easy completion of certain complicated processes called VaithiyaMuppu
iii. Regulating the internal secretions of the body by the practice of Yōgam is called YōgaMuppu
iv. Obtaining divine knowledge and spiritual wisdom to attain salvation is called Gyana Muppu
Description:
Muppu is also called as “Guru Marunthu”a universal salt, since with small addition of Muppu to any medicine will enhance the medicines efficiency to many folds. However, without knowing or understanding the proper preparation method of Muppu(Guru Marunthu) one cannot be a successful Siddhar or Siddha practitioner in treating killer or chronic diseases.
Also,Muppuchunnam is a highly commended medicine in Siddha classics, which is used in kayakalpam treatment and for chronic degenerative diseases like cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, AIDS, and other immune related diseases.
